Wyoming launched the Frontier Stable Token (FRNT), becoming the first U.S. state to issue a government-backed stablecoin across seven major blockchains including Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, Ethereum, Optimism, Polygon, and Solana. The token utilizes LayerZero's Omnichain Fungible Token standard for seamless cross-chain movement and is 102% overcollateralized with U.S. dollars and short-term Treasury securities. FRNT will be available for trading through Kraken on Solana and Rain's Visa-integrated card platform on Avalanche, allowing users to spend it anywhere Visa is accepted. The Wyoming Stable Token Commission, chaired by Governor Mark Gordon, oversees the token's issuance and management, with all reserve income flowing to the state's School Foundation Fund. The launch comes one month after President Trump signed the GENIUS Act into law, establishing a regulatory framework for stablecoins in the United States. Public trading has not yet begun as the state completes pending federal regulatory reviews, with Franklin Advisers managing the reserves and The Network Firm conducting monthly audits. Wyoming has positioned itself as a blockchain pioneer, having passed over 45 pieces of cryptocurrency legislation since 2016.
