Instagram has surpassed 3 billion monthly active users. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the milestone on Wednesday, saying, “We’ve built an incredible community here.” With this achievement, Instagram becomes the third Meta-owned platform to join the “3 billion club,” following Facebook and WhatsApp, both of which crossed the mark earlier this year. The last time Meta disclosed Instagram’s user figures was in October 2022, when Zuckerberg revealed the app had surpassed 2 billion monthly users. Since Meta’s $1 billion acquisition of Instagram in 2012, the platform has continued steady growth. Meanwhile, Meta stopped disclosing monthly and daily user numbers for individual apps in its quarterly earnings last year. Instead, it now reports the overall daily active users across its family of apps, which reached 3.48 billion in July, surpassing analyst estimates.
