Intel has launched its new midrange Xeon 6700P and 6500P server CPUs to strengthen its competition against AMD in the enterprise data center market. Intel states that its expanding Xeon 6 family can outperform AMD in various workloads and reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) for data centers. The new Xeon 6 processors aim to support data center consolidation for a wide range of enterprise applications and provide superior performance and lower TCO than AMD's latest server CPUs. The Xeon 6700P series features up to 86 cores, while the Xeon 6500P series features up to 32 cores, targeting a broader segment of the data center market.
