According to Reuters, Tan had previously invested in numerous Chinese tech companies — including some linked to the People’s Liberation Army — through a Hong Kong-based holding company and his venture capital firm, Walden International. Expressing his affection for both the United States and Intel, Tan said the company plans to begin high-volume manufacturing later this year using the most advanced semiconductor process technology in the country. Meanwhile, Intel’s board has voiced its full support for his leadership.
