Samsung has added a 'Kids Mode' to the Galaxy Watch 7 LTE model ahead of its Unpacked event. This feature allows parents to track their children's location and provide calling and messaging capabilities without requiring a separate smartphone. Parents can manage app downloads, contacts, and emergency SOS features through the Google Family Link app, including a School Time mode that restricts features during class hours. Children can download 20 'teacher-approved' apps and watchfaces from the Kids section of the Google Play Store, including Barbie and Marvel themes. This move responds to Apple's 'Apple Watch For Your Kids' feature launched in 2020 and is available on Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T networks. Currently limited to Watch 7, Samsung has not confirmed if this feature will expand to the budget Galaxy Watch FE model. The new mode streamlines previous workarounds that required more technical expertise from parents.
