Tether, the world's largest stablecoin issuer, reported a record quarterly net profit of $4.9 billion for the second quarter of 2025, surpassing its previous record of $4.52 billion. The results were verified by international accounting firm BDO in the company's latest attestation report, demonstrating Tether's continued dominance in the stablecoin market. During Q2, Tether issued over $13.4 billion in new USDT tokens, bringing the total circulating supply to more than $157 billion, marking a $20 billion increase since the beginning of the year. The company's U.S. Treasury holdings grew to $127 billion, positioning it among the largest private holders of U.S. government debt globally. Of the $4.9 billion net profit, $3.1 billion came from recurring operations while $2.6 billion resulted from mark-to-market gains on Bitcoin and gold holdings. Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino stated that "Q2 2025 marked a new chapter in Tether's global expansion" and that markets are showing "accelerating trust in Tether." The company has been reinvesting substantial portions of its profits into strategic initiatives including AI, renewable energy, and communications infrastructure, while also preparing to expand into the U.S. market following President Trump's signing of the GENIUS Act.
