The browser features Perplexity's AI search engine as the default, offering AI-generated summaries of search results as its core functionality. Comet Assistant, a built-in AI agent, automates routine tasks including email and calendar summarization, tab management, and web page navigation. Users can activate the AI assistant in a sidebar to ask questions about their current page without opening new windows or copying text. Perplexity reported processing 780 million search queries in May with over 20% month-over-month growth. Currently available for macOS and Windows, the browser supports one-click import of Chrome extensions, bookmarks, and settings.
