Fintech giant Stripe and crypto venture capital firm Paradigm officially announced Tempo, a layer-1 blockchain specialized for stablecoin payments. Valued at $91.5 billion, Stripe plans to process global payments, remittances, microtransactions, and agentic payments through Tempo. Tempo is an Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-compatible blockchain that can process over 100,000 transactions per second with sub-second finality. Matt Huang, co-founder of Paradigm, will serve as Tempo's CEO while maintaining his role as managing partner at Paradigm. Tempo will not issue its own token but instead allows various stablecoins to be used as gas fees, ensuring stablecoin neutrality through a built-in automated market maker. Major companies including Visa, Deutsche Bank, Shopify, OpenAI, and Revolut are participating as design partners. The project is currently operating on a private testnet with a dedicated team of approximately 15 employees.
핀테크 기업 스트라이프(Stripe)와 암호화폐 벤처캐피털 패러다임(Paradigm)이 스테이블코인 결제에 특화된 레이어1 블록체인 '템포(Tempo)'를 공식 발표했다. 1,200억 원(915억 달러) 가치의 스트라이프는 템포를 통해 글로벌 결제, 송금, 마이크로트랜잭션, AI 에이전트 결제 등을 처리할 계획이다. 템포는 이더리움 가상머신(EVM) 호환 블록체인으로 초당 10만 건 이상의 거래를 서브세컨드 완결성으로 처리한다고 밝혔다. 패러다임의 공동창립자 매트 황(Matt Huang)이 템포 CEO를 맡으며, 동시에 패러다임 매니징 파트너 역할도 유지한다. 템포는 자체 토큰을 발행하지 않고 대신 다양한 스테이블코인을 가스비로 사용할 수 있으며, 내장된 자동화 마켓메이커를 통해 스테이블코인 간 중립성을 보장한다. 비자, 도이체방크, 쇼피파이, 오픈AI, 레볼루트 등 주요 기업들이 설계 파트너로 참여하고 있다. 현재 프라이빗 테스트넷에서 운영 중이며 약 15명의 전담 팀이 개발을 진행하고 있다.
