A Senate committee composed of Democrats has pointed out that Elon Musk used his influence in DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) to evade federal oversight and investigations, thereby avoiding more than $2 billion in potential financial liabilities. According to the report, as of the day of Trump's inauguration, Musk and his five companies-SpaceX, Tesla, Neuralink, The Boring Company, and xAI-were facing at least 65 regulatory or enforcement actions from 11 federal agencies, with potential liabilities totaling approximately $2.37 billion. Democrats allege that Musk leveraged his influence to escape scrutiny and neutralize lawsuits, while the White House has categorically denied claims that Musk used his government role for personal or financial gain. Senator Richard Blumenthal has requested that the five Musk-affiliated companies submit documentation detailing federal investigations they faced prior to Trump’s inauguration, as well as the measures taken to separate Musk’s government work from those probes.
