Sam Altman's World Network raised $135 million through a private token sale of WLD tokens to a16z and Bain Capital Crypto. The funds will support network expansion, with WLD prices jumping 14% following the announcement. World Network launched its eye-scanning Orb services in six U.S. cities earlier this month after being previously unavailable to American users. Altman stated the project aims to provide 180 million Americans with Orb access by year-end, covering more than half the country's population. WLD token launched in July 2023 and currently has a market cap of $1.87 billion. The token gained 55% in the past month but remains 75% below its all-time high. World Network uses bowling ball-shaped Orb devices to scan users' eyeballs for identity verification and provides access to the World app ecosystem.
