Microsoft is continuing its investment of approximately 3.3 trillion KRW in Malaysia’s cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure, accelerating the country’s digital transformation. Despite adjustments to its global data center strategy, the company’s plans to develop hyperscale data centers in the Klang Valley remain unchanged. Microsoft recently officially launched the ‘Malaysia West’ cloud region in Greater Kuala Lumpur. This region features three availability zones and provides low-latency, highly resilient services for major platforms such as Azure and Microsoft 365. In addition, through its ‘AI for Malaysia’s Future’ (AIForMYFuture) initiative, Microsoft plans to provide AI skills training to 800,000 Malaysians by 2025. As of May, more than 400,000 people have already completed the training.
마이크로소프트가 말레이시아 클라우드 및 인공지능(AI) 인프라에 약 3조 3천억 원 규모의 투자를 지속하며, 현지 디지털 전환 가속화에 힘을 싣고 있다. 글로벌 데이터센터 전략을 조정하는 와중에도 클랑밸리 지역 하이퍼스케일 데이터센터 개발 계획은 그대로 추진된다. 마이크로소프트는 최근 그레이터 쿠알라룸푸르에 ‘Malaysia West’ 클라우드 리전을 공식 출시했다. 이 리전은 세 개의 가용성 존을 갖추고, Azure와 Microsoft 365 등 주요 플랫폼에 저지연·고복원력 서비스를 제공한다. 또한 마이크로소프트는 ‘AI for Malaysia’s Future’(AIForMYFuture) 이니셔티브를 통해 2025년까지 80만 명의 말레이시아인에게 AI 역량을 교육할 계획이다. 5월 기준 40만 명 이상이 이미 교육을 이수한 것으로 나타났다.
