U.S. data center company EdgeCore will invest $17 billion to build a 1.1-gigawatt data center campus in Louisa County, Virginia. The new campus will be developed on a 697-acre site, spanning 3.9 million square feet, and will become EdgeCore’s third data center in Virginia. The project aims to provide scalable and cost-efficient data center solutions for hyperscale and AI-focused customers, while also generating long-term tax revenue and job creation for the Louisa County region. EdgeCore plans to implement an environmentally friendly cooling system with a water usage benchmark of less than 0.01 liters per hour to enhance sustainability at the facility. With this development, EdgeCore will operate data centers in a total of six locations, including Ashburn, Culpeper, Silicon Valley, Phoenix, and Reno. Since being acquired by Partners Group in 2022, EdgeCore has pursued aggressive expansion backed by large-scale investments and plans to double its workforce in the future.
