Lucid Motors will begin rolling out a software update on July 30 that enables hands-free highway driving for its Air sedans. With this move, Lucid joins the small group of automakers in the U.S. that have commercialized hands-free driving technology. The feature will only be available on vehicles equipped with the “Dream Drive Pro” package, which includes a suite of 32 sensors such as lidar, radar, and cameras. Drivers must continue to keep their eyes on the road, as the system uses an in-cabin infrared camera to continuously monitor driver attention. Hands-free driving will only be allowed on pre-mapped, divided highways. Lucid also announced plans to introduce the same functionality to its upcoming Gravity SUV later this year.
루시드 모터스가 7월 30일부터 에어(Air) 세단에 고속도로 핸즈프리 주행 기능을 제공하는 소프트웨어 업데이트를 배포한다. 이로써 루시드는 미국 내 핸즈프리 운전 기능을 상용화한 소수의 완성차 업체 대열에 합류하게 됐다. 해당 기능은 'Dream Drive Pro' 패키지가 포함된 차량에만 적용되며, 라이다·레이더·카메라 등 32개의 센서가 탑재되어 있다. 운전자는 도로를 주시해야 하며, 시스템은 차량 내 적외선 카메라를 통해 운전자 주의 상태를 지속적으로 모니터링한다. 핸즈프리 주행은 사전 매핑된 고속도로에서만 사용할 수 있다. 루시드는 같은 기능을 올해 후반기 출시 중인 SUV 모델 '그라비티(Gravity)'에도 적용할 예정이라고 밝혔다.
