Apple has launched a new charger, the “40W Dynamic Power Adapter (up to 60W),” alongside its iPhone 17 lineup. The device supports the USB PD 3.2 AVS (Adjustable Voltage Supply) standard, making it optimized for fast charging the iPhone. However, the title of being the world’s first AVS-supported charger had already been claimed by Google with its "Pixel Flex 67W Dual-Port Charger." AVS is a technology that allows fine-tuned voltage adjustments to safely and efficiently charge devices by preventing overheating while speeding up the charging process. Apple’s charger supports up to 60W output, but it can only sustain that peak for about 18 minutes, making it more suitable for charging the iPhone 17 than a MacBook Pro. The adapter is priced at $39, though direct comparison tests with Google’s $59.99 model are still needed. Industry observers expect competitors like Anker and other third-party manufacturers to enter the AVS charger market soon, potentially intensifying competition.
