Google Cloud has carried out layoffs affecting some employees despite recording all-time high revenue and operating income every quarter. The cuts reportedly hit staff working in user experience (UX) roles, with many employees involved in design and UX research included. Layoff notices were delivered via email on the 29th. Some employees expressed their feelings on LinkedIn, saying, “It was my dream job for nearly a decade, but my role was affected by a recent organizational change,” and “I joined just six months ago, and it’s disappointing to be leaving the team already.” Google Cloud has not provided details on the scale of the layoffs or specific comments regarding them. Based in Mountain View, California, the cloud and AI giant has continued to report quarterly revenues of around $54 billion in recent years, sustaining strong growth.
