A new study by AARP found that more than 52 million Americans aged 50 and older play video games at least once a month, which is a slight increase from 2019. On average, gamers aged 50+ play games for 12 hours a month, with almost half of them playing games daily. However, despite their growing presence in the gaming industry, many older gamers feel neglected and overlooked, with nearly 70% feeling that the games are not made with them in mind. Over half of them do not see themselves reflected in the games they play, and many find the games too complicated. The study suggests that the industry needs to create games and features designed to be easy to learn, provide consistent gameplay, and offer a challenge to older gamers.
