Kevin Miller, Amazon's vice president in charge of data centers, stated that this site is ideal due to its geographical proximity to the company's other Oregon data centers. This is to ensure fast data processing speeds necessary for operating complex software applications for their customers. The project is expected to take several years before actual operation begins, as it must go through processes such as permitting, power supply, and tax abatement. Amazon anticipates that the scale of this facility will be similar to its existing data centers in nearby Morrow and Umatilla counties.
