Instagram has significantly upgraded its direct message (DM) feature. This update adds various new functions including music sharing, message scheduling, and translation. The newly introduced music sharing feature allows users to share 30-second previews from Instagram's music library with their friends. This is expected to be particularly popular among younger users who discover new music through social media. A message translation feature has also been added, enabling real-time translation between 99 languages. Additionally, the message scheduling function allows users to schedule messages up to 29 days in advance. Other new additions include the ability to pin important messages to the top of a chat and invite people to group chats via QR codes. Instagram stated that this update will be initially available to iOS and Android users, with web version support coming later.
