Twilio will lay off 11% of its workforce as part of a major restructuring plan. The cloud communications software builder has been striving for profitability in 2023. The restructuring aims to improve operating margins, create a better selling capacity and reduce operating costs. The local council in Grünheide, Germany, has indefinitely delayed a vote on a planned expansion of Tesla's Berlin factory. The automaker wants to expand its nearly 750-acre factory site by another 250 acres to build a freight depot. The news comes just days after Tesla said production ramp-up at the facility was progressing "very well"

SpaceX's Starlink satellite internet service has arrived at McMurdo Station in Antarctica. The station is a major hub for climate science and geology, among other things. The service is enabled by a space laser network, which will be augmented in future versions of Starlink.
Amazon warehouse workers will vote on a union election next month. The National Labor Relations Board determined employees met the requirements to hold the election. The election will be held in a tent outside the facility in Schodack, New York. The ALU successfully unionized one of Amazon's Staten Island warehouses last year.
Google is slashing projects at its in-house R&D division known as Area 120. The company on Tuesday informed staff of a “reduction in force’ that will see the incubator halved in size. Area 120 has north of 170 employees at the beginning of the year, but is now under 100, one source told us.
HP has unveiled a robot that prints layouts on construction site floors. SitePrint uses a tablet and cloud tools to outline walls, doors and other elements. The robot can finish a layout in a "fraction" of the time humans require. It can print on concrete, plywood and terrazzo, even if it's rough.

California's attorney general filed a lawsuit against Amazon on Wednesday. The suit alleges that the retail giant is violating antitrust and unfair business practices laws. Amazon has denied the allegations, saying it's working to prevent price competition. The state is asking for an injunction and a fine of $2,500 per violation.
At Tesla’s annual stockholder’s meeting, Elon Musk said he thinks the automaker could eventually build as many as 10–12 gigafactories throughout the world. The CEO also mentioned that Tesla could produce up to 20 million electric cars per year by 2030, with each factory outputting between one and a half and two million units per year.
