Google is slashing projects at its in-house R&D division known as Area 120. The company on Tuesday informed staff of a “reduction in force’ that will see the incubator halved in size. Area 120 has north of 170 employees at the beginning of the year, but is now under 100, one source told us.

아마존이 지난달 5일 17억달러(약 2조3000억원)에 가정용 로봇기업 아이로봇을 인수한다고 발표했다. 이에 미국의 20개 시민단체들이 반발했다. 아마존이 가정용 진공청소기 로봇 ‘룸바’로 유명한 아이로봇을 인수할 경우 각 가정 프라이버시를 침해할 것이라는 우려 때문이다.

Google completed its $5.4 billion acquisition of Mandiant on Monday. The Mandiant buy marks the second most expensive acquisition in Google’s history. Google plans to retain the Mandiant brand under Google Cloud. Google in August 2021 pledged to invest $10 billion in cybersecurity over the next five years.

A report from The Verge claims Google has "canceled the next version of its Pixelbook laptop and dissolved the team responsible for building it." Google has not approved former President Donald Trump's Truth Social platform for the Google Play Store. The tech giant owned by Alphabet said it is concerned about content moderation concerns. The ads will be shown in Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Poland to combat fake news about Ukrainian refugees. Researchers found the videos improved people's ability to recognise manipulative content. The research was founded on a developing area of study called "prebunking"
