테크 저널리스트이자 작가인 브라이언 머천트(Brian MERCHANT)가 ‘산업혁명과 러다이트 운동: AI 시대에의 재조명’을 주제로 기조 강연을 진행했다. 머천트 작가는 아이폰을 다룬 베스트셀러 ‘The One Device’의 저자이며, 최근 저서 ‘Blood in the Machine: The Origins of the Rebellion Against Big Tech’에서 빅테크에 대한 저항의 역사적 기원을 추적한 인물이다. 현재는 AI 나우 연구소(AI Now Institute)의 저널리스트 인 레지던스(Journalist in Residence)로 활동하고 있다. '아이폰 생산 기지' 중국 폭스콘 공장서 시위 충돌

Protests have erupted at the world's biggest iPhone factory in Zhengzhou, China. Footage shows hundreds of workers marching, with some confronted by hazmat suits and riot police. Foxconn is Apple's main subcontractor and its Zhengzhou plant assembles more iPhones than anywhere else in the world. Last month a surge in Covid cases saw the company lock down the campus, prompting some workers to break out.

아마존 아틀란타 창고 노동자들, 부당한 노동 관행 규탄

Amazon workers in Atlanta joined with United for Respect to detail new unfair labor practices complaints against the retailer. The group says Amazon exploits its warehouse staff with unsafe working conditions and low wages. The company has since fired two workers and “tried to intimidate associates,” the group said.
