Discord, a messaging platform, announced its acquisition of Gas, a social media app that is popular among teens. Gas allows users to sign up with their school, add friends, and answer polls about their classmates with the goal of boosting users' confidence. The app was founded by Nikita Bier, who sold a similar app called tbh to Facebook in 2017. Despite its fast popularity, the app has had a rocky road, including a false sex-trafficking rumor which led to graphic death threats against the team. The terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed, and Discord plans to keep Gas as a standalone app for now.

Discord is changing its Android app to React Native to allow new features and updates to arrive at the same time as iOS and desktop. This move will allow the company to roll out new features across every platform simultaneously. While the Android app will still keep some customizations, things like font sizes will be aligned between Android and iOS.

BAYC Discord servers were briefly exploited today. The team caught and addressed it quickly. About 200 ETH worth of NFTs appear to have been impacted. This is not the first hack on the BAYC server with the most recent hack happening in late April. Hacks are becoming a theme in the crypto space and this is the latest example of this.
