ScanSource, a US-based IT and telecommunications distributor, said this week that it was the victim of a massive ransomware attack. It paralyzed some of its primary digital systems, affecting customers and suppliers in regions including North America. Mark Lance, vice president of DFIR and threat intelligence at Guidepoint Security, said that While overall ransomware attacks in 2022 were down from the previous year's peak, there have been "significant increases" in several indicators of ransomware activity so far in 2023, he said.
