Ship was designed to show development of technology in centuries since Pilgrim Fathers set sail for New World. It had been due to go to Massachusetts in USA, but was diverted to Canada to investigate issues.

Robots are turning up on more factory floors and assembly lines as companies struggle to hire enough workers to fill rising orders. Orders for workplace robots in the U.S. increased by a record 40% during the first quarter compared with the same period in 2021, according to the Association for Advancing Automation, the robotics industry’s trade group. Robot orders, worth $1.6 billion, climbed 22% in 2021, following years of stagnant or declining order volumes, the group said.

대한민국 내일을 바꿀 발명 기술 1위로 ‘인공지능(AI)’이 선정됐다. 특허청은 제57회 발명의 날을 맞아 국민들이 뽑은 ‘대한민국 내일을 바꿀 10대 발명 기술’을 선정해 발표했다. 인공지능 기술에 이어서 2위는 로봇, 3위는 미래차가 차지했으며, 수소(4위), 에너지(5위) 등이 뒤를 이었다. 이어 생명공학(바이오), 우주·항공, 신소재, 배터리, 반도체 기술이 10위 안에 이름을 올렸다.

미국 바이오넛 랩스(Bionaut Labs)라는 스타트업은 사람의 뇌 표면에 칩을 이식하는 수준을 넘어, 마이크로(미세) 수술 로봇을 보내 뇌 내부를 측정하고, 조직 샘플을 수집하고, 수술하는 임상 실험을 하기로 했다고 밝혀 주목을 받고 있다. 이러한 기술이 발전하면 파킨슨병, 뇌전증, 뇌졸중까지 치료하기 할 수 있을 것으로 예상된다.
