Cryptocurrency solutions company Ripple is launching a stablecoin pilot project with the Republic of Palau. The collaboration will see the Republic of Palau's U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin issued on Ripple's blockchain, Ripple Leaflet. In addition, the Palauan government said it will leverage its various technical resources with Ripple's CBDC platform, an end-to-end solution that helps central banks issue their own CBDCs.

Ripple has won a settlement of securities law violations brought by the Securities and Exchange Commission in 2020. The SEC has argued that digital assets are securities, like stocks and bonds traded on Wall Street, and should be subject to the same strict regulations. The ruling, released today (Nov. 13), said that XRP, the cryptocurrency created by Ripple, did not violate the law.
