메타버스가 가진 가능성이 사라진 것은 아니다. 다만 게임 분야를 넘어 실제 사람들의 생활 방식을 바꿔 놓을 기술적 고도화가 필요했을 뿐이다. 그야말로 ‘가상의 공간에서 현실의 모든 것을 할 수 있는’ 기술적 토대가 마련되고, 생태계가 형성된다면 그때가 비로소 메타버스의 전성시대가 아닐까. 이런 관점에서 보면 생성형 AI의 등장은 메타버스가 가진 잠재력을 발휘할 수 있게 하는 계기로 작용한다고 할 수 있다.
