It will set buyers back $43,990, but a full $7,500 tax credit can bring the price of the electric car down to $36,490. According to Electrek, this version replaces the recently discontinued Model Y all-wheel drive. It is also $3,750 cheaper than AWD. Bloomberg reports that the vehicle will likely use lithium iron phosphate batteries, which are cheaper to manufacture than high-nickel battery configurations, The battery likely allowed the company to sell it at a lower price, but it also means the discontinued AWD Model Y's range estimate could be about 20 miles shorter.
