가상자산(암호화폐) 시장이 좀처럼 활기를 찾지 못하고 있다. 이더리움 머지 업그레이드 성공 등 기술적 호재에도 좀처럼 시장이 반응하지 않고 있다. 현재 추세라면 올 가을 상승 랠리를 기대할 수 없다는 분석이 나온다. 지난 2018년 이후 시장 암흑기가 도래할 것이라는 관측마저 나오고 있다.

가상자산(암호화폐) 시장이 지루한 박스권에서 벗어나지 못하고 있다. 지난 8월 한 때 2만5000달러를 상회했던 비트코인(BTC)은 다시 2만달러대로 내려앉았다. 이날 글로벌 암호화폐 시가 총액은 1조달러 아래로 줄었다. 비트코인의 시장점유율은 38.21%로 40% 아래로 내려갔다.

Bitcoin mining difficulty increased 9.26% after the latest adjustment, according to an update on Wednesday. During the same time period, the bitcoin mining hash rate increased by more than 12%.

The pair had been unable to make up for lost ground over the weekend, and just days from the end of the month, even $20,000 appeared vulnerable as support. At the time of writing, Bitcoin traded near $19,900 — below June’s closing price.

A hacker stole funds from clients making deposits at General Bytes Bitcoin ATM machines. The attacker was able to modify the crypto settings of two-way machines, the company said.

Robinhood has been fined $30 million by the New York State Department of Financial Services. The regulator says the company failed to comply with anti-money laundering and cybersecurity regulations. Robinhood also recently announced it's laying off 23 percent of its workforce due to inflation and the cryptocurrency crash.
