엘살바도르 정부, 비트코인 저점 매수 개시

El Salvador bought 500 BTC on Monday, according to its president, Nayib Bukele. "El Salvador just bought the dip," Bukele said in a post on Twitter. "500 coins at an average USD price of ~$30,744." The South American adopted bitcoin as legal tender last year and has since accumulated the cryptocurrency through a series of announced purchases. Based on past announcements, El Salvador has bought more than 2,000 BTC.

SBI Motor Japan has announced that its customers can now make payments for used cars using Bitcoin (BTC) and Ripple (XRP). According to the announcement by SBI on Monday, the development marks the first time XRP cryptocurrency will be deployed on a cross-border e-commerce website in Japan. The BTC and XRP transactions will be settled on the SBI VC Trade Co. Ltd, a cryptocurrency exchange owned by the SBI Group. The platform, according to SBI, will use appropriate security methods in order to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing through crypto transactions.

Bitcoin continued to drop this weekend after a broader stock sell-off in the U.S. last week sent the cryptocurrency market into a frenzy and prompted bitcoin to plummet by roughly 10%. The world’s largest digital currency by market value declined to $34,661.02 on Sunday, according to Coin Metrics. The drop comes after the blue-chip Dow Jones Industrial Average lost more than 1,000 points on Thursday and the Nasdaq fell 5%, losses that marked the worst single-day drops since 2020.

Iconic fashion brand Gucci will begin accepting cryptocurrency in some of its U.S. locations later this month, with plans to roll out the program to other North American stores this summer. According to Vogue Business, in-store payments will be made using a QR code that customers can scan with their crypto wallet, sent by Gucci via email. The stores will accept various digital currencies, including Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Litecoin, Dogecoin, and Shiba Inu.

The study, surveying adults from 1,800 households in El Salvador, aimed to measure the adoption of BTC in the country after the Bitcoin Law was passed. The researchers found that BTC is gaining ground compared to other payment methods.

Central African Republic, or CAR, will now reportedly be able to use Bitcoin in addition to the country's franc as legal tender. According to a Wednesday report from news outlet Agence France-Presse, Central African Republic President Faustin-Archange Touadéra has signed a bill into law establishing a regulatory framework for the use of cryptocurrency in the country as well as adopting Bitcoin (BTC) as legal tender.
