현대·기아차가 내년부터 미국 내 신형 전기차에 표준 NACS 포트 탑재할 것으로 밝히면서, 현대차 소유주들은 앞으로 전기차 충전에 테슬라의 슈퍼차저를 사용해야 한다. 현재 테슬라의 슈퍼차저를 채택한 업체는 현대차 외에도 볼보, 폭스바겐 등이 있는 것으로 알려졌다.

The Supercharger opened in Wuhan, China, and Tesla China noted that Tesla owns the largest fast-charging network in the world. Tesla is continuing to expand its Supercharger network, which is a key advantage for the company in terms of profitability and EV charging accessibility for its customers. Though, eventually, Tesla plans to open its Supercharging network to non-Tesla EV owners, and it’s already started that in Europe.

미국 바이든 행정부는 오는 2030년까지 미국 전역 50만개의 전기차 충전소 네트워크를 구축한다는 계획을 추진하고 있다. 충전소 네트워크에 가장 선행되어야 할 충전 표준안 마련에 나선 것. 충전 표준안은 전기차 제조사, 차량 브랜드, 충전기에 구애받지 않고 전기차 운전자라면 누구나 접근할 수 있는 규격을 확보, 보급하는 것을 골자로 하고 있다.
