Europe's highest court ruled in favor of Amazon on Thursday in a case in which the largest U.S. e-commerce company was accused by the European Commission of receiving illegal tax benefits. The European Court of Justice (ECJ) ruled that the Commission, the EU's executive arm, had failed to prove that a tax agreement between Amazon and Luxembourg was "state aid incompatible with the internal market". "We welcome the court's ruling, which confirms that Amazon has complied with all applicable laws and has not received special treatment," Amazon said in an official statement.

CNBC reports that a high-profile executive who was Amazon's primary liaison with federal regulators in its drone delivery unit has left the company. Sean Cassidy, Director of Safety, Flight Operations and Regulatory Affairs at Prime Air, announced his departure from the company in an internal memo to employees last week, a copy of which was obtained by CNBC. Amazon hired Cassidy, a former Alaska Airlines pilot and vice president of the world's largest pilots union, in 2015 to oversee strategic partnerships in the drone program.
