물류거인 아마존이 로봇에 관심을 가지기 시작한 것은 어제 오늘의 일이 아니다. 어느새 10여년 정도 된다. 그러나 최근 아마존의 로봇 자동화는 그 어느 회사보다도 두드러진다. 물류창고에서 인간의 역할이 컸던 소포의 포장·분류·출하 작업에서 거뜬히 제몫을 해내는 로봇 ‘스패로우(참새)’, 배송기사 배송 루트를 코치하는 리비안의 전기 배송 밴, 하늘배송을 담당하는 드론 ‘MK-30’에 이르기까지 거침없다.

아마존, 신형 배달 드론 'MK27-2' 공개

Amazon's latest drone, the MK27-2, will start making deliveries in 2022. The drone can fly 12 kilometers roundtrip, and is fully autonomous. It can only carry packages weighing less than five pounds, and deliveries must fit in one box about the size of a shoe box. Amazon also announced the next model, theMK30, which it says will launch in 2024.
