Google is urging Apple to adopt Rich Communications Services (RCS) to make texting between Android and iPhones easier. Google says RCS doesn't work between Apple's proprietary iMessage and Google's Messages app. RCS supercharges regular text messages, allowing for features like reading receipts, text effects, and other benefits. But because the platforms aren't compatible, messages between iPhones and Androids revert to regular, outdated text messages.
