Mirage Wine & Spirits, an Illinois liquor store, has filed a class action lawsuit against Visa, MasterCard, and Apple on behalf of merchants who accept AppPay at all on-site payment points across the United States. Mirage alleges that Apple received bribes from Visa and MasterCard to maintain its AppPay monopoly. According to Mirage's allegations, Apple entered into exclusive agreements with Visa and MasterCard. These agreements removed any incentive for Apple to develop a competing on-site payment transaction network or to allow third-party wallet apps to utilize the iPhone's NFC capabilities.
