우버-웨이모, 장거리 자율주행 트럭 개발 맞손

Uber and Waymo have signed a partnership to work on long-haul autonomous trucking. The companies will blend Waymo's self-driving tech with Uber Freight's network to help customers deploy autonomous trucks more efficiently. Waymo Via plans to earmark billions of miles of goods-only driverless delivery capacity for the Uber network. The two companies will trial the integration at the outset.

Cruise, the autonomous vehicle unit of General Motors, has finally been given the green light to start charging fares for its driverless robotaxi service in San Francisco. The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) voted Thursday to award Cruise with a driverless deployment permit, the final hurdle the company needed to jump to begin operating its autonomous ride-hail service commercially. Cruise will be operating its passenger service at a maximum speed of 30 miles per hour between the hours of 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. on select streets in San Francisco, adding another one and a half hours to its current service.

국토교통부는 자율주행차가 안전하게 제작되고 조기 상용화될 수 있도록 지원하기 위하여 관계기관 협의를 거쳐 레벨3 자율주행차 안전기준 개정을 추진한다고 26일 밝혔다. 국토부는 지난 2019년 12월 세계 최초로 레벨3 자율주행차 안전기준을 제정한 바 있으며, 이후 2021년 3월 제정된 국제기준과 정합성을 높이기 위해 이번 개정을 추진한다.

Those include robotics, advanced air mobility, and autonomous driving. The automaker is also building its first dedicated electric vehicle and battery manufacturing facility.

Elon Musk was in Brazil on Friday to launch a program to connect Amazonian regions with SpaceX’s Starlink satellite-based internet. He reportedly talked about Tesla to local reporters. Musk said that Tesla will have self-driving cars without the need for people behind the wheel about a year from now – therefore, around May 2023. He has been wrong about this timeline before.

The biggest claim has been that “Tesla will have 1 million robotaxis on the road by the end of the year. Instead of “1 million robotaxis” on the road, now, the CEO is talking about Tesla having 1 million people in its FSD Beta program.

Uber is launching two autonomous delivery pilots in Los Angeles. The two companies are Serve Robotics and Motional, both of which are focused on autonomous vehicles. Uber told TechCrunch the company is looking at partnering with more than one player in the space, and that the public might start to see more partnerships in the future. The new programs are part of a range of new products Uber is launch across its ride-hail and delivery platforms.
