파나소닉, 성능 개선을 위해 새로운 테슬라 배터리 생산 연기

Tesla's Japanese supplier Panasonic will not be able to begin mass production of 4680 battery cells for Tesla before March 2024 as originally planned. "In order to introduce performance improvement measures that will further strengthen our competitiveness, we have changed the schedule so that mass production will begin during the first half of March 25, 2025," Panasonic said in its earnings release, referring to the first half of its fiscal year ending March 2025.

Elon Musk has announced plans to expand Tesla's advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), Full Self-Driving (FSD), to North America and the rest of the world. "If FSD is not only safe, but works very well, we will roll out a one-month free trial to all cars in North America," Musk wrote on Twitter. Tesla's fully self-driving (FSD) vehicles will be rolled out globally after they are well suited to local roads and approved by regulators in those countries.

The price cuts in the electric car market, initiated by Tesla, are affecting the sales and profits of not only Tesla, but many other electric car producers. Excluding special items, Tesla has cut prices four times this quarter and twice so far this month, generating $2.9 billion in revenue, a 22% drop from a year ago, and a further drop in profit from the third and fourth quarters of last year. "It's important to note that even though we cut prices significantly at the beginning of the quarter, our operating margins are still among the best in the industry," Musk said.

일론 머스크는 언젠가부터 ‘X’라는 문자아래 통일된 제국을 만들려는 생각을 한 것 같다. 그가 테슬라, 스페이스X와 X.AI, XCorp를 통해 지구에서부터 우주까지 아우르는 ‘X제국’을 구축하려는 거대한 계획의 또다른 한축을 이제 막 만들어 세웠다고 봐도 지나치지 않을 것 같다. 물론 남의 첨단 AI 만들기를 막고 와중에 자신의 회사를 세운 그에 대한 평가는 별개다.

During the same period, South Korean carmakers Hyundai and KIA surpassed the 10% market share mark, while U.S. automaker General Motors (GM) saw its market share jump from 0.1% last year to 9.9% this year.
