E3, once the biggest event on the gaming calendar, is being permanently canceled after 28 years. "For over 20 years, E3 has grown every year, but it's time to say goodbye," ESA, the organization behind E3, announced on social media. Thank you for all the memories," the organization announced. ESA President Stanley Pierre-Louis added, "After more than two decades of serving as a pivotal showcase for the U.S. and global video game industry, the ESA has decided to retire E3."

E3, the video game industry’s biggest annual expo, has been cancelled. The show had been due to make a return after years of Covid-19 disruption this June in Los Angeles, but in a joint statement, the US’s Entertainment Software Association (ESA) and events company Reedpop announced it would no longer be going ahead.

Microsoft won't be at E3 2023. The company will stream a dedicated Xbox Games Showcase on June 11th. Nintendo and Sony have also said they won't attend the show. E3 has lost much of its shine since the start of the pandemic in 2019.
