최근 플랫폼 규제 입법이 다시금 시도되며 산업계를 비롯한 학계의 반대 목소리가 높아지고 있다. 이렇듯 반대 여론이 형성되는 이유는 지난 2021년 입법 시도 됐던 온라인플랫폼공정화법(온플법)과 마찬가지로 실증적 조사 없이 자체 플랫폼 서비스가 없는 EU의 DMA(Digital Market Act, 디지털 시장법)을 상당 부분 벤치마킹하는 방식을 반복하고 있기 때문이다. 이에 최근 ‘온라인 규제 동향 국제세미나(Ⅲ): 플랫폼 규제의 의도하지 않은 결과’에서는 국내외 전문가들 간 플랫폼 규제에 대한 의견을 나눌 시간을 마련했다. 이날 영상으로 연결된 해외 석학들은 시행 5개월에 접어든 EU DMA가 일으키는 변화를 진단하고, 한국에 플랫폼 사전규제 법안이 적용될 경우 발생할 수 있는 문제의 심각성을 언급하며 깊은 우려를 쏟아 냈다.
