Vietnam is preparing new rules to limit which social media accounts can post news-related content. The rules are expected to be announced by the year-end, sources say. They would establish a legal basis for controlling news dissemination on platforms like Facebook and YouTube. Authorities would be able to order social media companies to ban accounts that break those rules.

Pew Research Center study finds 33% of TikTok users regularly get their news on the app. That's up from 22% in 2020, when the study was conducted. Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube also saw declines in news consumption. But TikTok is not a primary source of news consumption on social media, as that honor still belongs to Facebook.

Google has not approved former President Donald Trump's Truth Social platform for the Google Play Store. The tech giant owned by Alphabet said it is concerned about content moderation concerns. Dean Morris, 27, has just under 700,000 followers, but now has over 1m followers.
