X (formerly Twitter) is introducing a feature that allows AI to directly write Community Notes. With the launch of a pilot program, developer tools for AI note writing have been released, and AI-generated notes must go through an approval process in test mode. Starting later this month, notes written by AI will be made available to users. X stated that, through community rating feedback, AI agents will be able to provide increasingly accurate and unbiased information. AI note writers will be verified by an open-source automated evaluation system, which will filter out notes that are off-topic or malicious. AI-generated notes will be clearly labeled for transparency and, initially, will only be applied to posts that have requested a Community Note. X expects that AI will play a larger role in the fact-checking system in the future.
