Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian has announced a $37 billion investment plan for 2024, emphasizing the company's pursuit of market leadership in enterprise security, collaboration, and generative AI (GenAI). "What we see as our biggest market opportunity in 2024 is moving customers from AI pilots and proofs of concept to larger implementations that solve real business problems," Kurian said as part of CRN's 2024 CEO Outlook project. Specifically, customer security measures in response to the rise in cyberattacks and improving enterprise productivity through collaboration tools like Google Workspace, and solving customers' business problems with generative AI. Google Cloud recently reported more than $9.1 billion in revenue for the fourth quarter of 2023, a 26% year-over-year increase. As of Q4 2023, it accounted for approximately 11% of parent company Google's total revenue of $86 billion. Not only is Google Cloud running at an annualized pace of $37 billion, but it's also more profitable than ever before, thanks to Kurian's leadership over the past six years.
