While spending on cybersecurity continues to grow, major vendors in the security industry have recently been cutting staff due to the economic downturn. Although cybersecurity is widely regarded as the tech sector least likely to see spending cuts, even in 2023, security vendors will not escape the effects of layoffs. Earlier this year, large pure-play security vendors like Sophos and Zscaler, as well as many smaller product manufacturers, laid off cybersecurity employees. As the economic downturn continues, a handful of cybersecurity companies are expected to further reduce their workforce in Q3 2023.
