Amazon will launch 24 Kuiper satellites aboard a rival SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket to expand its own satellite internet service, Project Kuiper. This mission, named "KF-01," is scheduled to lift off from Florida in the early morning of July 16 local time. With this launch, Amazon’s Kuiper satellites in orbit will total 78, as the company accelerates deployment efforts to meet the U.S. FCC’s deadline of having 1,600 satellites in orbit by July 2026. Project Kuiper is a major initiative for Amazon, with around $10 billion invested to compete with Starlink. Amazon has secured up to 83 launch slots for the project, three of which involve SpaceX rockets.
