United Airlines' new satellite Wi-Fi service, in collaboration with Starlink, marks the end of airplane mode. The service provides fast Wi-Fi speeds and low latency from gate to gate, making video calls possible. However, the upload speed is relatively slow. United Airlines recently tested this service on one of its first planes equipped with Starlink's satellite Wi-Fi. The flight, which took off from Chicago O'Hare Airport, lasted about 90 minutes. While airlines previously required passengers to switch to airplane mode for safety reasons, they are now encouraging passengers to freely engage in activities such as web browsing, streaming, and gaming.
