Sam Burd, President of Dell Technologies’ Client Solutions Group, expressed strong confidence in the future of personal computers. Speaking at the recent Dell Technologies World 2025 event, he stated, “In the era of AI, PCs are becoming increasingly intelligent, and striking the right balance between cloud and local computing is becoming essential to enhancing user experience.” At the event, Dell unveiled the industry’s first notebook equipped with an enterprise-grade discrete NPU—the Dell Pro Max. Powered by two Qualcomm AI chips, the device is capable of running 109 billion-parameter models locally in real time. The company also introduced Dell Pro AI Studio, a security and governance framework designed for the AI PC environment. It enables enterprises to precisely control which AI models are approved, where they run, and who can use them. Burd added, “The endpoint is becoming the central hub for AI workloads, and ISVs will actively leverage the computing power of local NPUs. There’s a bright future not only for PCs, but also for infrastructure and technology as a whole.”
