Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD has overtaken Tesla in monthly sales in the European market for the first time. According to market research firm JATO Dynamics, BYD registered 7,231 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) in Europe in April, surpassing Tesla, which registered 7,165 units during the same period. BYD, which also manufactures plug-in hybrid vehicles, has been accelerating its push into the European market. In contrast, Tesla is believed to be experiencing declining demand due to its aging model lineup and the political stance of CEO Elon Musk.
