Tesla successfully demonstrated the delivery of a Model Y by fully autonomous driving, covering approximately 15 miles from its Austin factory to a customer’s apartment. This demonstration took place shortly after the launch of Tesla’s robotaxi pilot service in Texas, with CEO Elon Musk highlighting it as “the first autonomous delivery of a customer vehicle.” The vehicle was equipped with the same self-driving software used in Austin’s robotaxi fleet, and after delivery, it was switched to the commercially available “Full Self-Driving (Supervised)” version. With no passengers or remote assistance, the Model Y safely navigated a complex 30-minute route, including highway entry and exit, right turns on red, roundabouts, and unprotected left turns.
