Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has once again reorganized the company’s artificial intelligence division. Meta split its Superintelligence Lab into four groups — research, superintelligence, products, and infrastructure — while reports suggest possible executive departures and downsizing. The company has recently shifted strategy by investing billions of dollars to secure AI talent and exploring the use of third-party models. Internal tensions have emerged as Meta considers moving away from its open-source philosophy toward a closed model. Key researchers including Joelle Pineau, Angela Fan, and Loredana Crisan have recently left the company, while some core figures such as Rob Fergus remain in place to continue leading Meta’s FAIR lab.
