OpenAI has launched 'Sora 2,' a video generation AI model that reflects the laws of physics, alongside a TikTok-style social app called 'Sora.' Sora 2 perfectly synchronizes dialogue and sound effects with the video and supports a "cameo" feature that allows users to insert themselves directly into AI-generated videos. Unlike previous AI video generation models, Sora 2 realistically portrays physical interactions, accurately reproducing complex movements such as Olympic gymnastics and backflips without distortion. It also uniquely generates audio within videos purely from text prompts. Users of the Sora app can record a short verification video to insert themselves into AI videos, appearing as people, animals, or objects. The app also features a personalized feed similar to TikTok and includes protections for minors. Currently available by invitation only in the U.S. and Canada, OpenAI plans to expand Sora globally.
