Apple has charged a former Apple engineer with stealing self-driving car technology and fleeing to China. Weibao Wang, a Chinese national and former Apple engineer, was indicted in Northern California in 2017 on charges that he stole thousands of documents containing source code for software and hardware related to Apple's self-driving car technology while employed at Apple. He had worked as an Apple engineer since March 2016, and was trained on company rules prohibiting the transfer of confidential company data and intellectual property when he was hired.
